I attended catering college in my home town Shimla, in the Himalayan region of India. After graduating I joined the renowned ITC luxury hotel group as kitchen associate, a role in which I was able to hone my basic skills and knowledge of Indian cuisine. I then joined the prestigious Welcomgroup Management Institute (WMI), where I enhanced my skill set for the role of chef in charge of its flagship restaurant, Kebabs and Kurries in ITC Grand Central Mumbai and, a year later, its namesake at ITC Gardenia.
In 2014, I joined the award-winning Asha’s restaurant group in Dubai in readiness for opening their flagship restaurant in Manchester. In its very first year, Asha’s became the only Indian restaurant in Greater Manchester to be listed in the 2017 Michelin Guide.
Having more than 12 years experience in the industry and having worked with top chefs at world renowned hotels, I excel in the finest culinary techniques. Being part of premier food and beverage operations in India, the UAE and UK, I have cooked for heads of state, movie stars and sport personalities. My personal favourite guests were childhood hero Sachin Tendulkar and Asha Bhosle herself!
As a chef, I am constantly seeking fresh and innovative ways to enhance the dining experience, with new recipes, modern trends, cutting edge techniques and regional specialities. I have a deep appreciation of creating apposite combinations of ingredients with a thorough understanding of adapting foods to tastes, diets and cultures. My diverse professional experience around the world has enabled me to develop the specialised skills required here at Asha’s – a restaurant that truly represents the multiple regional cuisines of India.
